AstroAPI Terms of Service
These Terms govern access to the AstroAPI website, dashboard, API keys, documentation, and astrology calculation endpoints (the “Service”). By creating an account or using the Service, you agree to these Terms. If you use the Service for an organization, you represent that you have authority to bind that organization.
Current commercial status
No-charge access is currently available. Paid checkout is not offered until billing is enabled. Before paid checkout is enabled, AstroAPI will publish the legal operator identity and the final renewal, tax, cancellation, proration, and refund terms. Do not rely on draft pricing or an unavailable checkout as an offer to sell a subscription.
Eligibility
You may use the Service only if you can form a binding contract where you live. A person using the Service for a business must be authorized to act for that business. The Service is built for developers and is not directed to children.
Accounts and API keys
Provide accurate account information and keep passwords, sessions, and API keys confidential. API keys are server-side credentials: do not publish them, embed them in public browser or mobile code, transfer them to an unrelated party, or use another person's credentials. You are responsible for activity performed through credentials you control and should revoke a key or contact support promptly if it may be compromised.
Permitted use and restrictions
You may call documented endpoints from your own backend and use returned calculation data in your application, subject to your plan, these Terms, applicable law, and any third-party rights. You may not resell or sublicense raw access to AstroAPI, misrepresent AstroAPI output or availability, bypass quotas or security controls, probe for vulnerabilities without written permission, disrupt the Service, automate abusive traffic, or use the Service for unlawful, deceptive, infringing, or harmful activity.
Data you submit
You retain responsibility for information you submit, including birth dates, times, timezones, and coordinates. If that information concerns another person, you must have a lawful basis and any permission required to process it. Do not submit data that your product is not authorized to use. The current calculation service processes request data to return a result and does not intentionally persist calculation request bodies in the application database. See the Privacy Policy for operational metadata and provider disclosures.
Plans, quotas, and usage accounting
Plan limits are published on the Pricing page. Included units reset by UTC calendar month and stop when the applicable limit is reached; automatic usage overage billing is not enabled. Some endpoints have a separate entitlement or quota. A request can consume quota after it is admitted even if the calculation later fails, so clients should validate inputs and use bounded retries. AstroAPI may apply reasonable rate, concurrency, payload, and abuse limits in addition to a monthly quota.
Paid subscriptions
When billing is enabled, Stripe will process payment and provide hosted checkout and account-management screens. The checkout presented before a purchase will identify the price, currency, billing interval, renewal terms, taxes when applicable, and the operative cancellation and refund terms. The Stripe portal will display the subscription-management options actually configured for the account. These details are not final while paid checkout remains disabled.
Calculation scope and responsible use
AstroAPI returns documented astronomical positions, geometric relationships, and separately labeled rule-based astrology fields. It is not a scientific validation of astrology, a prediction of future events, or medical, legal, financial, employment, mental-health, or other professional advice. Do not use it as the sole basis for high-impact or safety-critical decisions. Calculation methods, supported dates, house systems, zodiac frames, and known approximations are described in the Methodology and endpoint documentation.
Beta features and changes
A feature labeled beta may change, gain fields, or be withdrawn. AstroAPI may modify limits, documentation, endpoints, or the Service to address security, reliability, legal, or product needs. Where reasonably possible, material changes that adversely affect existing paid use will be announced before they take effect. No backward-compatibility period is promised unless stated in writing.
Availability and support
The Service is provided on an “as available” basis. Maintenance, dependency failures, abuse controls, and other events can interrupt access. No uptime, response-time, support-time, or service-level commitment applies unless it appears in a separate signed agreement. Email support is available through the Contact page.
Intellectual property
AstroAPI's website, documentation, software, branding, and service design are protected by applicable intellectual-property laws. These Terms grant only the limited right to use the Service as described above. Third-party software, datasets, names, and trademarks remain subject to their respective rights and notices.
Suspension and termination
Access may be limited or suspended to protect users or infrastructure, investigate suspected abuse, comply with law, or address a material breach. You may stop using the Service and use the dashboard's account-deletion process. Deletion and retention behavior are described in the Privacy Policy. Subscription cancellation, when available, is separate from account deletion and follows the terms displayed at checkout and in the portal.
Disclaimers and liability
To the extent permitted by applicable law, the Service is provided without implied warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, non-infringement, or uninterrupted and error-free operation. AstroAPI is not responsible for decisions, interpretations, or products created from API output. Nothing in these Terms excludes a warranty, remedy, or liability that applicable law does not permit the parties to exclude. Final liability, indemnity, dispute, governing-law, and venue provisions require operator approval and legal review before paid billing is enabled.
Changes to these Terms
The effective date above identifies this version. Material revisions will be posted here and, when reasonably practicable, communicated through the account email or dashboard. Changes apply prospectively from their stated effective date; continued use after that date constitutes acceptance where permitted by law.
